Description

We are super excited to present the fifth vinyl release from Poor Man’s Friend Records, a brand new 7-inch featuring the legendary Cornell Campbell. Known as The Gorgon, Cornell Campbell’s career spans over 60 years and his distinctive falsetto has become iconic in reggae history. His first recording with the venerable Coxsone Dodd at Studio One set the stage for a legacy of soulful love songs and deep, spiritual roots cuts.

In this release, Campbell delivers a powerful message about keeping your ego in check: “Just try sweeping up your backyard, before you find fault with people’s yard.” This searing warning comes through on a mid-seventies style roots production cut by the Poor Man’s Friend Rhythm Section at our Bristol studio. The B-side features a masterfully crafted dub by our label stalwart Yakka, with dynamic horn lines played by the Cornerstone Horn Section.

This release is super limited; only 300 copies have been pressed, so don’t miss your chance to grab this essential piece of reggae history.
