Description

The Soulites – Rise & Shine was released in 1971 under the Gemini label.
The song expresses the singer’s joy for life and his wish to share his music with the world. The lyrics also refer to the social and political situation of Jamaica in the 70s, when the country was suffering from violence and poverty. It is a call for unity and peace among brothers and sisters, and for resistance against oppression.
The lyrics are a song of hope and optimism, that reflect the spirit of reggae roots.
The Soulites was a little-known group that recorded some songs at the Federal and Dynamic studios between 1971 and 1978.
